Bipolar disorder and depression kept me from finishing a project for years. In 2019 my mother, Lois, died — the loss that got me started on this record. Lo was her nickname. My daughter, born in 2021, carries it too as her middle name — it became the album's title for both of them. "Whole" opens with a recording of Lois singing me Happy Birthday.
